Good Stuff - DOCUMENTED!

It's been a hectic couple of weeks for our family - along with the Thanksgiving holiday!  We've had scrapbook classes to teach, gymnastic shows to attend, busy school schedules, travel, and lots and lots of extra activities...  so to I have to say it was LOADS of fun to take a break from teaching some different scrapbooking techniques & layouts in order to take a fun mini-album class from Kelly Purkey this weekend!  You have to check out her blog and all the fabulous new acrylic stamps she is designing...  you may know her from Studio Calico or as a designer for American Crafts.  However, recently she has ventured out on her own and I am lovin' the newest items!!!

We mixed some of her stamp sets with the gorgeous bright colors from the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook line and created - well...  instead of tell you I'll show you :)

I've created this mini-album to capture my favorite photos from our upcoming trip to Krabi, Thailand!  So excited to have it put together - this title was created using one of KP's favorite techniques:  place the thicker letters on the page and spritz your favorite mist over them...  it creates a beautiful 'mask' when you remove the thicker letters.  This is GREAT for when you don't have the right color on-hand, etc...

On the back cover I've used a shimmer mist from Mister Huey - LOVE IT!  It gives just a nice shine over the paper and this cute swirl paperclip I picked up at the office supply store - perfect!

Great fun at the THINK Cafe' in Wan Chai!!!  Thank you Kelly for sharing your time with us!
Now, I'm really excited about our upcoming trip to Thailand - I'll catch you next time.

Advanced Composition Photography

Thought I would let you see some of the pictures that I captured for the new Advanced Composition Photography class that I'm taking from Candice Stringham at http://www.jessicasprague.com!  I've taken a couple of Candice's classes and WOW - she really does a great job sharing her insight and technical knowledge about photography.

Our first assignment was to capture a location and 'tell a story' about that location with your pictures.  I decided to showcase our island, Discovery Bay.  Here are some of the photos I took.

D-Deck provides alfresco dining

Restaurants and shops around the DB Piazza

Residents enjoying the piazza :)

Cafe' and shops line the circular piazza where residents can gather to enjoy the beautiful day.

Discovery Bay Ferry transporting commuters from DB to Hong Kong Island twice an hour all day.

I enjoyed this challenge - these are images I might not of considered taking otherwise.  When we look back on this time in our lives, these images will help tell the story.  It will be interesting to see how things change over time.  Check back for more photos over the next few weeks!
